Elana Lander-Portnoy

Elana earned her bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Maryland in 2008 and is NASM-CPT certified, with a collective 8+ years of coaching experience as a WSI certified swim instructor and personal trainer.

Living with chronic vestibular migraine has deeply shaped Elana’s approach to fitness. She knows firsthand how symptoms of chronic illness must be met with both compassion and flexibility. She meets clients where they are while helping to create consistency, resilience, and confidence.

Elana believes adults deserve to have fun, and that "exercise" and "play” are better together.

Elana seeks to improve the overall well-being of her clients by helping them move better and get stronger while actually enjoying the process, supporting their fitness goals with positivity, humor, and enthusiasm.

True to form, Elana is also known as the gym's resident jokester — she even dressed up as one of Sobo’s clients for Halloween (photo for proof).
